- Revive:a call to deeper prayer for all our clergy and lay leadership to experience a continued personal refreshing of the wonder of God’s presence in our life. Key to this is the establishment of small peer-to-peer “Benedictine style support networks” capable of developing realistic revitalisation plans.
- Revitalise:grow our existing churches, connecting ministries together to form a pathway that reaches people who are unconnected with church and supports them as they journey to become committed disciples who own for themselves Jesus’ mission.
- Renew:in communities where there is no effective church presence, we believe it is right to plant/transplant new congregations to focus on outreach and younger generations.
- Enable us to play our part in helping the Church of England see an exponential rise in ordained and lay vocations.
- Lead and develop a team that will be at the forefront of identifying and nurturing those called to ordained and other licensed ministry.
- Bring great emotional intelligence and self-awareness as you lead a prayerful and visionary discernment process, ensuring that each candidate is both deeply supported and rigorously assessed.
- Work across a rich and varied landscape of church traditions, including church plants and pioneer contexts, with a passion for widening participation and cultivating vocations that reflect the full diversity of our region, inspiring disciples of all ages from all traditions and backgrounds

Over the last few years, with much prayer, learning from experience, and working together to build relationships and trust, we have developed a Diocesan vision: “the Diocese of Portsmouth longs to be a rejuvenating community of Jesus-centred, Kingdom-seeking disciples”.

As our Lead for Vocations (DDVO), you will be an energetic, visible and motivating presence across the diocese as you passionately live to see people identified and encouraged to grow into their God-given call of ordained or lay vocation.
In this key diocesan strategic role, you will work as part of the Ministry & Discipleship Team to lead, resource and help shape the future of ordained and lay ministry vocations across the diocese partnering with our Bishop, parishes and the national church.
