Children, Youth & Families Co-ordinator
The Church of the Good Shepherd, Crookhorn, is a thriving and friendly charismatic Anglican church passionate about serving its community. They are serious about our commitment to young people and offer well-established youth and children’s ministries with the scope to grow.
They are wanting to build positive relationships with children, young people and families that bring about development of faith and transformation of character.
Role
We are seeking a fun, reliable person with good team skills to become our Children, Youth & Families Co-ordinator. The Children, Youth & Families Co-ordinator will think creatively about how we engage with youth and families in our parish, identifying and developing mission opportunities.
CoGS has many children that come through the doors and we are looking to appoint someone to take them from being visitors, to being part of our multigenerational community. The right candidate will enable our children and their families to explore and develop their faith and integrate into all areas of our church life to create a culture that values and benefits everyone.
In addition, the role will include outreach in the local area to find more effective ways to involve children, families and those with no experience of Christian faith in the life and witness of the Church. The role will also provide leadership, inspiration and support for the volunteers who minister in the toddlers, children’s and youth groups at CoGS and take an active role in providing ministry in the groups as and when required.
The Children, Youth & Families Co-ordinator is a key member of the staff team; s/he will liaise with clergy, parish administrator and wardens and attend staff meetings and PCC meetings as required.
Environment
CoGs runs toddler groups, Kids and Youth groups and a community café all of which provide a vital and dynamic link with many people from the community. Our ministries place children and young people at the centre of Church life both midweek and on Sunday Mornings.
If you are enthusiastic, dedicated, and have a genuine interest in empowering young people, and developing your own skills and experience, CoGS would love to hear from you. Contact the vicar, Janette Smith, for an informal discussion.
