Lay Clerk (Tenor) & Chapel Choir Outreach Co-ordinator
Queens’ College wishes to appoint a Tenor Lay Clerk &Chapel Choir Outreach Co-ordinator to support the development of the choir and its membership. This is a temporary position for 10 months, ideally commencing on the 28th September 2026.
The Lay Clerk will be expected to participate fully in singing the regular round of 3 services per week during Full Term (Choral Evensong on Sundays and Wednesdays, and Choral Compline on Fridays), and occasional services detailed on the termly schedule (including for major festivals falling on other weekdays, College ceremonies and special events, and memorial services). The Lay Clerk will also lead a termly outreach activity to help encourage future choral singers, to promote the benefits of singing to community groups beyond the College, and to help enrich the experience of student choir members through sharing music with others.
Queens’ College Chapel Choir is a friendly and supportive choir that is well integrated into the life of the Chapel and enjoys a relaxed social life. The successful candidate will also receive 10 free singing lessons per annum and an optional free meal (Formal Hall) after Wednesday and Sunday services.
We are looking for:
- Experienced choral singer with excellent sight-reading ability, and diploma-level vocal technique.
- The nature of the role requires flexibility, and a willingness to work variable hours around the regular Choir commitments.
- Organisational and communication skills to prepare and deliver outreach events to promote choral singing beyond the College setting.

The total remuneration for the 10-month period is £6,000, inclusive of rolled-up holiday pay.
