Full-time
29th April 2026
Listed today

Love animals and looking for weekend work? Teckels Animal Sanctuaries is recruiting a Weekend Kennel & Cattery Assistant to join our team on a fixed-term basis from June 2026.

About the role

This is a weekend role covering Saturdays and Sundays, 8.5 hours each day. You’ll be responsible for the care and wellbeing of the cats and dogs at our centre, helping us to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome animals who need us most.

Your duties will include daily cleaning, feeding, exercising and enrichment for both rescue and boarding animals. You’ll work alongside our behaviour team to support training programmes, help potential adopters meet the right animals, and give boarding tours to visitors and prospective clients. You’ll also work with and support our volunteers on centre handling procedures.

A job share will be considered for this role.

What we’re looking for

You’ll need to be passionate about animal welfare, confident handling dogs of all sizes and cats, and happy working outdoors in all weather conditions. Previous experience in a kennel or animal environment, or a relevant animal-related qualification, is required. Experience with Microsoft Office and data entry is also needed.

A full, clean manual driving licence is required for this role.

As with all roles at Teckels, you’ll need physical fitness for the walking, lifting and hands-on nature of the work, and good emotional resilience for the realities of animal rescue.

Working hours and contract

Shifts are 7am–4.30pm and 10am–7pm, Saturdays and Sundays. Some evening shifts and sleepovers may be required, with on-site accommodation provided.

This is a fixed-term position running from June 2026 for approximately 4 months (ending September 2026).

How to apply

To apply, please send your CV and a cover letter to jobs@teckelsanimalsanctuaries.co.uk.

All applicants must include a cover letter. Applications without a cover letter will not be considered.

The closing date for applications is 30 April 2026.

If you’re looking for a rewarding weekend role where you can make a real difference to animals’ lives, we’d love to hear from you.
