Journal Publishing Coordinator (Scottish Universities Press)

Scottish Universities Press (SUP) is seeking to contract a freelance Journal Publishing Coordinator to contribute to the development of the shared open access university press for Scotland.
The primary purpose of this freelance contract is to support the implementation of a journal publishing programme at Scottish Universities Press (SUP). The Journal Publishing Coordinator will support the implementation of the SUP journal publishing programme. The key deliverables for the contract are:
- Delivery of a (pilot) platform that meets project requirements
- Production of documented workflows for onboarding journals to SUP
- Established (pilot) mechanisms in place for reporting on metrics/analytics for the journal programme
- Creation of an on boarding toolkit for journal editors
Duties over the course of the contract will include (but are not limited to):
- Working with technical support, ensure platform infrastructure is developed in line with project requirements
- Contribute to the development of an approach for onboarding journals to SUP and create an onboarding toolkit for editors
- Provide support for editors, and respond to enquiries from member institutions and individual academics
- Liaise closely with editors and other key partners, as well as operational teams, to ensure delivery of the pilot programme
- Clearly document workflows covering all stages of the process for onboarding journals to SUP
- Implement methods for metrics and analytics in relation to the journal programme
- Ensure familiarity with funding requirements and compliance measures for current and forthcoming policy landscape, as relates to the publication of research
- Maintain standards for high quality outputs
- Actively engage with organisations which promote and support open access publishing standards such as, OASPA, SPARC, OAPEN and PKP to contribute to the community and benefit from an international perspective and experience.
- Ensure familiarity with funding requirements and compliance measures for current and forthcoming policy landscape, as relates to the publication of research
Contract: The Journal Publishing Coordinator will be contracted on a fixed-term basis as a freelance worker for a period of 6 months.
Salary: Salary: £10,944 total contract fee (£228 per day, paid monthly)
Location: The role will be designated as ‘hybrid’, with an expectation that the freelance worker utilises their own equipment to fulfil the requirements of the role. Salary: £10,944 total contract fee (£228 per day, paid monthly)
