Are you passionate about music and sharing your love of instruments and singing with students of all ages? Services for Education are looking for inspiring, dedicated and multi-skilled teachers to join our team and nurture our future generation of musicians.
Responsibilities:
As a peripatetic music teacher, you would be delivering a weekly timetable of teaching activities across a range of schools throughout Birmingham in support of the National Plan for Music Education and/or delivering activities connected to SFE’s role as the Music Hub Lead Organisation for Birmingham. This would include:
- Providing individual and group lessons for students of various skill levels, from beginners through to advanced players
- Developing engaging lessons to cater to the individual needs and goals of each student
- Preparing students for performances, exams and auditions
- Continuously monitoring and encouraging young people by providing constructive feedback and guidance to enable progression
- Staying updated with music teaching methodologies and participating in regular professional development opportunities
We would love to hear from you if you have any of the following experience:
- Proficient in playing and teaching at least one instrument (achieved Grade 8 or have extensive experience as a performer at an equivalent level) from the following: keyboard, woodwind, brass, upper or lower strings, guitar, percussion, non-traditional instruments (for example sitar, dohl, steel pans or drums or vocal)
- Primary Whole Class Instrumental teaching
- Expertise in teaching in SEND settings, working with children and young people with complex barriers to learning, including those with severe and profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD).
- Small Group/1:1 teaching
- Ensemble direction
What you will bring to the role:
– Enthusiasm and passion for music and music education, and a commitment to inspiring students to achieve their musical potential
– Qualified Teacher Status (preferred) and/or a bachelors and/or masters degree in Music/Music Education , or equivalent professional experience.
– Excellent communication, team working and interpersonal skills.
