About the Role
This is a key role, leading the planning and operational delivery of the Health and Fitness programme at Leisure at Cheltenham. You will lead your team to deliver an excellent experience and a competitive offer for current and future users of our health and fitness facilities.
The Role – Health and Fitness Manager
- Own and develop the Centre’s health and fitness programmes and class timetable.
- Drive the commercial performance of the health and fitness facilities, contributing to the Centre’s overall objectives.
- Use your knowledge of leisure and sports sector trends and developments to propose new opportunities for the Health and Fitness programme.
- Lead the operational management of the Health and Fitness Suite and programme to ensure services are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
- Manage and develop our Health and Fitness team to deliver exceptional service.
- Take ownership of member engagement in our fitness and health programmes.
- Work with your peers to support the Head of Leisure in developing and enhancing the programme offer and customer experience.
Our Requirements – Health and Fitness Manager
Qualifications
- Level 3 qualification in gym instruction and fitness specialisms.
- Level 3 Gym Instructor qualification (or working towards).
Experience
- A minimum of three years’ experience working as a supervisor or leading teams in a fitness environment.
- A sound commercial understanding of sales and retention.
- Excellent customer service skills and experience of dealing with a range of customer needs.
- Knowledge of healthcare and wellbeing partnerships, and an understanding of health referral schemes.
- Experience delivering exercise-to-music programmes.
- Experience in personal training.
Skills and Abilities
- Commercial awareness with a results-driven mindset.
- Confident communicator with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with customers and colleagues.
- Comfortable managing multiple tasks and prioritising effectively to meet deadlines.
- Customer-focused and able to manage challenging customer situations proactively.
- Proactive and self-motivated.
- Works collaboratively with employees, colleagues and customers to resolve problems and implement change initiatives.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with current data protection legislation.
- Report-writing skills.
- Good IT skills.
