Head of Technology (1617)

We are looking for a Head of Technology to provide technical leadership, strategy, and operational delivery of the RSC's IT environment — ensuring systems are secure, resilient, efficient, and aligned to organisational needs.

Reporting to Chief Financial Officer, key areas of responsibility include (please see the Role Profile for the comprehensive list):

  • Stakeholder Engagement -Building strong relationships with stakeholders across the organisation, advocating for technology and ensuring shared understanding of value, cost, and security.
  • Technology Strategy –Identifying and refining shared technology needs across the organisation.
  • Governance and Continuous improvement –creating the environment for technical and process standardisation.
  • Service Delivery and Operations –ensuring system availability, performance and user satisfaction.Providing senior sponsorship for major incidents, complex technical issues, and supplier relationships, ensuring effective resolution and accountability.
  • Leadership -leading and developing technology teams, actively promoting a culture of accountability, learning and continuous improvement.

To be suitable for this role, it is essential that you have:

  • Proven experience creating, evolving, and delivering technology strategy within a complex enterprise environment.
  • Demonstrable leadership of both software delivery and operational support teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate technical subjects clearly to varied audiences.
  • Sound knowledge of ITIL / ITSM processes, governance, risk management, and compliance (including GDPR and licensing).
  • Hands-on experience delivering cloud-based solutions (Azure, AWS, or similar), with a strong understanding of Microsoft technologies including Microsoft 365 and Active Directory.
  • Experience managing departmental budgets, suppliers, and technology costs, ensuring value for money and service resilience.
  • Good understanding of infrastructure and networking technologies (LAN/WAN, VPN, firewalls, routing, switching, DNS) and exposure to CRM, ERP, and reporting systems.

This is a full-time, permanent position based in Stratford-upon-Avon.

You will be working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. We are committed to a culture of flexible working, and this role will provide the opportunity for some flexibility in hours and location of work, ensuring that the specific remit of the role is delivered.
