About this job

UNISON improves the lives of public service workers through individual and collective representation, campaigning and negotiation.

Our Region supports and oversees the UNISON campaigns, negotiations, activist development and representation that take place in workplaces across the Capital (or within the M25).

We are looking for an experienced people-manager to run our internal support teams including casework administration, finance, membership records, and internal HR. The postholder will report upwards to the Regional Management Team on the operation of these functions, and work with the relevant union-wide Departments that set the standards, processes and systems we use.

If you have good people skills with a track record in running one or more internal functions, we would love to hear from you!

The post is based in our office within the UNISON Centre in Central London.

About you

You will have experience of running one or more internal or corporate function (e.g. an administration, HR, finance, or membership team) as well as a proven track record in managing staff and implementing change to systems and/or processes. You should have excellent problem-solving and planning abilities and well-developed communication skills.

You do not have to have a Trade Union background to apply but you do need to have an understanding of the aims and values of the trade union movement and be flexible in your approach. Experience of working in a membership organisation would be an advantage, as would showing awareness and understanding of UNISON’s policies and objectives.

The Greater London Region prides itself on its diverse membership. We aim to represent the entire public sector in our multicultural city. We support and encourage applications from underrepresented groups and those from Black, Asian and non-white backgrounds. UNISON uses ‘Black’ in a broad, inclusive sense to describe people who face racism in the UK, including people of African, Caribbean, Asian, Arab and other heritage.
