An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Millfield Enterprises, the commercial arm of Millfield School, as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and Camps, Courses & Events Co‑ordinator.
The role
As the Designated Safeguarding Lead for Millfield Enterprises, you will act as a senior and trusted point of contact for all safeguarding and child protection matters relating to Enterprises activities. Working closely with the wider Millfield safeguarding team, you will provide expert advice, guidance and support to staff, liaising particularly with pastoral support staff, school nurses and IT colleagues on matters of safety, safeguarding and welfare, including online and digital safety. You will exercise professional judgement when safeguarding concerns arise, supporting staff in decision‑making and referrals, and working with local authorities and external agencies where appropriate to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children in our care.
Alongside this, you will play a key role in supporting the commercial success of Millfield Enterprises by helping to plan, promote and deliver a diverse range of residential and non-residential courses and events.
About you
You will be well‑equipped and prepared for the responsibility that comes with being a Designated Safeguarding Lead and will have prior experience of safeguarding at DSL level. You will bring excellent communication skills and the confidence to provide clear advice and guidance to a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders. Experience of event or course management would be beneficial, although this is not essential, and applicants who are keen to develop within this area will be equally encouraged to apply.
Working hours and salary
This is a full-time, year‑round role, working 35 hours per week on a rota basis. The role is predominantly Monday to Friday, with shift patterns of 8.30am–4.00pm or 10.00am–5.30pm. There may be some variation in hours to support business needs, particularly during holiday periods, including occasional evening and weekend working.
The salary for this role is £28,600 per annum.
In addition, you will enjoy a range of benefits, including freshly prepared lunches for only £10.30 per month, access to school facilities, and discounts/cashback at high street shops and restaurants through the school’s Employee Assistance Programme.
**Please note that applications will be considered on receipt, and as a result the vacancy may close early should an appointment be made. As such we would recommend submitting your application as soon as possible**
