Millfield School is seeking an experienced and inspirational Bagpipes Teacher to provide individual tuition across Millfield Senior School and Millfield Prep School. This is an exciting opportunity to help develop and grow bagpipe provision, inspiring pupils aged 6–18.

We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic musician able to teach a range of abilities, from beginners to more advanced players. The successful candidate will play a key role in encouraging uptake, developing musicianship, and preparing pupils for concerts and examinations.

The role requires strong organisation and communication skills, including maintaining lesson records and liaising with pupils, parents and colleagues. There may also be opportunities to support school concerts.

This is a self-employed position of approximately half a day per week, with potential to grow as demand increases. The successful candidate will manage their own invoicing and arrangements for lesson payments directly with parents.

Millfield School is seeking an experienced and inspirational Head of Cricket to lead and develop its cricket programme for students in Years 9–13. This is a senior coaching and leadership role within our ambitious sports environment, with responsibility for shaping player development, coaching standards and the strategic direction of cricket across the school.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, delivery and ongoing development of Millfield’s cricket programme for boys and girls.
  • Coach teams and individual players throughout the year, with responsibility for a defined player group during the summer season.
  • Design and oversee Individual Development Plans, working closely with students, parents and external partners.
  • Lead the development and performance of the cricket coaching team, supporting high‑quality coaching practice.
  • Build strong links with prep schools, county cricket clubs, universities and governing bodies to support talent development and recruitment.
  • Contribute to the wider life of Millfield School and the continued development of Millfield Sport, including working with the Enterprises team during non-term time to support the commercial development of cricket‑related activities and programmes.

About You

  • An experienced cricket coach with a strong background in high‑performance, professional or school environments.
  • Hold an ECB Level III qualification (or equivalent), with advanced coaching qualifications desirable.
  • An effective leader, able to inspire students and develop colleagues.
  • Knowledgeable about long‑term player development and integrating performance sport within an educational setting.
  • Well organised and proactive, with strong communication skills and an ability to manage planning, logistics and budgets effectively.

Working Hours and Salary

This is a year‑round role working 42 hours per week, typically across Monday to Saturday, with occasional Sunday work required to support fixtures, tournaments or events.

Millfield School is seeking a highly professional and proactive Senior Office Assistant to provide exceptional administrative support to the Head’s Office. This is a pivotal role requiring outstanding organisation, discretion and communication skills, supporting the smooth and efficient running of the Head’s daily business.

About the Role

You will:

  • Work closely with the Executive Assistant to provide professional and confidential administrative support to the Head’s Office.
  • Support the coordination of the Head’s diary, meetings and appointments, ensuring the smooth running of daily activities.
  • Draft correspondence and manage communications on behalf of the Head’s Office.
  • Proactively manage inboxes and workflows in liaison with the Executive Assistant, ensuring actions are progressed efficiently and deadlines are met.

Millfield Prep School is seeking a friendly, reliable and customer-focused Shop Assistant to join our busy School Shop team. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a supportive school community and play an important role in providing a high-quality service to pupils, parents, staff and visitors. The successful candidate will help ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the shop while maintaining the welcoming and professional standards for which Millfield is known.

Working closely with the Retail Manager, you will be involved in all aspects of the shop’s operation, including serving customers, processing sales, receiving and displaying stock, maintaining stock levels and assisting with stock checks and stock takes. You will also support uniform fittings and kit-outs for pupils, manage lost property items and help process stationery orders for the school. The role requires excellent customer service skills, attention to detail and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, parents, colleagues and suppliers.

We are looking for someone who is organised, approachable and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Previous retail or customer service experience would be advantageous, although full training will be provided. A positive attitude, willingness to learn and a commitment to delivering an excellent customer experience are essential.

The normal working hours for this position are 7.45am to 1.15pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, together with 7.45am to 12.15pm for 10 Saturdays during term time. In addition, you will be required to work a further 110.25 hours during non-term time on a rota basis. The salary for this role is £10,189.50 per annum.

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Millfield School for an experienced Futures Counsellor to join our Futures team in supporting Millfield students and their families with all elements of future pathway exploration and application.

This role will support students applying for all global higher education and future pathways in the UK, USA, Canada, and the EU. The majority of our students apply to the UK with an increasing number applying to the USA, Canada and the EU.

Millfield is one of the leading UK independent schools for boys and girls, aged 2-18 years. Millfield is not like other schools and never has been. Key duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Working with the Futures Team to support a comprehensive service for students, families and staff.

  • Organising and attending events promoting future pathways including assisting with the planning of the annual Futures Fair, OM Careers Convention, Futures activity days and the UCAS Exhibition trip.

Working closely with class teachers and our Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO), you will play an important role in supporting the pupil's learning, wellbeing and development, helping them to access all aspects of school life and achieve their full potential.

The successful candidate will provide both individual and small-group support, assist with learning activities, promote positive behaviour, and work collaboratively with teaching staff to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment. The role may also involve supporting interventions, supervising pupils during duties, and assisting the wider school community as required.

We are looking for someone who is patient, adaptable and able to build positive relationships with children and adults alike. The Role

As Events & Courses Co‑ordinator, you will play a key role in the planning, sales, and delivery of residential and non-residential programmes. Acting as second-in-command to the Senior Events & Courses Manager, you will ensure high standards of customer experience, operational excellence and commercial success.

Contract type: Term time, plus 72 hours during non-term for deep cleans (usually worked three days immediately after the end of each term and three days immediately before the start of each term).

Millfield School is seeking an organised and detail-oriented Exams Assistant to support the smooth running of internal and external examinations throughout the academic year.

Working closely with the Examinations Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring exams are delivered efficiently, accurately and in line with awarding body requirements. This is a varied, cyclical role, with peak activity during exam periods and results days.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with entries for exam series (summer and November)
  • Support the preparation of candidate communications, including Access Arrangements
  • Help with training and administration of invigilators
  • Prepare exam materials, seating plans and documentation
  • Assist with setting up exam venues
  • Provide support during results days, including handling enquiries
  • Support post-examination services (e.g. reviews of marking, script requests)
