Job Title: Head of Admissions & Outreach
Responsible to: Group Director of Marketing & Admissions
Admissions Team:
The postholder will work closely with the Senior School & Prep School Heads and wider Sedbergh Schools Group teams. The postholder will have direct line management responsibility for the Overseas Registrar, UK Registrar, Prep School Registrar and Admissions Officer.
Main Purpose:
The Head of Admissions & Outreach will lead and deliver an outstanding admissions journey for prospective families across Sedbergh School and Sedbergh Prep School whilst contributing to the wider Sedbergh Schools Group admissions processes.
This role will sit at the heart of the School’s recruitment and family experience strategy, ensuring every interaction reflects the warmth, professionalism and values of Sedbergh. The successful candidate will oversee the full admissions journey, from first enquiry through to joining the School, while also developing strong outreach activity and meaningful relationships with families, feeder schools and educational partners.
The role is heavily focused on family experience, relationship management and conversion, ensuring families receive a highly personalised, responsive and memorable experience throughout their engagement with the School.
The postholder will be a visible ambassador for Sedbergh and the Sedbergh Schools Group, championing the School’s distinctive boarding ethos, values-led education and outstanding pastoral care.
Key Responsibilities:
Admissions & Family Experience
Lead the day-to-day management of the admissions process across Sedbergh Senior School and Sedbergh Prep School.
• Ensure every prospective family receives an exceptional, personalised and timely family experience.
Oversee the full admissions journey from enquiry to enrolment, ensuring strong communication and follow-up at every stage.
Develop and implement systems to improve enquiry management, conversion rates and family satisfaction.
Deliver outstanding visitor experiences including open days, scholarship days, individual visits, taster experiences and boarding stays.
Ensure all admissions communications reflect the School’s values, tone and brand positioning.
Work closely with boarding houses, academic departments and pastoral teams to ensure smooth onboarding and transition for new pupils.
Develop tailored approaches for UK and international families, recognising differing needs and expectations.
• Monitor parent feedback and identify opportunities to continually enhance the admissions and visitor experience.
Outreach & Relationship Management
To be the first point of contact with feeder prep school heads, ensuring a steady pipeline of enquiries are received and applications nurtured.
Develop and deliver a strategic outreach programme to strengthen relationships with feeder schools, educational consultants and key stakeholders.
• Represent the School at recruitment events, exhibitions, receptions and visits both within the UK and internationally.
Build long-term relationships with prospective families and advocates of the School.
Work collaboratively with Marketing, Sedbergh Courses and the Old Sedberghian Club to support recruitment campaigns and admissions communications.
Support the development of parent ambassador and alumni engagement initiatives to strengthen advocacy and referral opportunities.
Working with marketing, identify new recruitment opportunities and emerging markets aligned with the School’s strategic priorities.
Recruitment Strategy & Conversion
• Contribute to the development and delivery of the School’s admissions and recruitment strategy.
• Analyse admissions data, trends and market intelligence to inform recruitment activity and decisionmaking.
• Monitor enquiry, registration and acceptance pipelines to ensure recruitment targets are achieved.
• Produce regular admissions reports and forecasts for the Group Director of Marketing & Admissions.
• Ensure effective use of CRM systems and accurate maintenance of admissions records and data.
Work proactively to maximise conversion at every stage of the admissions process.
Leadership & Team Management
• Lead and develop the Admissions Team, fostering a high-performing, collaborative and familyfocused culture.
• Set clear objectives and expectations aligned to the School’s recruitment and customer experience strategy.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
The Head of Admissions and Outreach will be responsible for delivering measurable outcomes linked to recruitment, conversion and customer experience, including:
• Achieving agreed pupil recruitment and roll targets.
Improving enquiry, visit, registration and acceptance conversion rates.
Maintaining strong visitor and parent satisfaction scores.
Ensuring timely and high-quality communication with prospective families.
• Monitoring admissions pipelines, market trends and recruitment performance.
• Tracking the success and ROI of outreach and recruitment activity and providing feedback to the marketing team.
Maintaining accurate CRM data and producing regular admissions reports and forecasts.
