Job Title: Half Term Family Artist
Working with: Maya Kincaid, Head of Learning and Engagement, De La Warr Pavilion

Location: Bexhill, Hastings and Eastbourne
Contract: Freelance
This role requires commitment from the 2 DLWP artists to work in collaboration with one another, bringing together your practices to deliver 2 workshops per each of the 4 half terms (8 in total).
In addition to this, you are asked to do 4 in-person ‘studio’ planning days with the Hastings Contemporary and Towner artists – these will alternate between the three venues.
There will also be 3 reflective artist meet-ups across the year.
As this is a freelance role, you will need to invoice for your hours. We will provide invoice templates and show you how to process invoices if you have not done this before.
Fee: £230 x 8 for delivery and planning of 8, 2.5 hour workshops
+ £70 x 3 for reflective meetings
total fee = £2050 per artist

About the Role
De La Warr Pavilion (DLWP), Has0ngs Contemporary and Towner Eastbourne are delivering an ar0s0c programme with six ar0sts in the region over the next academic year.
Selected ar0sts will be paired and work together to plan and deliver crea0ve workshops at one arts organisa0on over four school holidays: October 2026, February, April and May
- Workshops will respond to themes including but not limited to; exhibi0ons on display, environmental concerns, an0-racist prac0ces and migra0on, spirituality, experiences with demen0a, psychology and memory.
Ar0sts will be supported as a cohort with support from Learning staff at each organisa0on.

Key Responsibilities
• Work in response to the needs and interests of the people you work with
Have experience of designing and leading crea0ve workshops for family audiences from diverse backgrounds
Have the ability to work collabora0vely with another prac00oner and to create a friendly and safe environment for parent/carers and children
Have a knowledge of the social and financial condi0ons surrounding access to the arts
• Are skilled at suppor0ng family groups to develop their crea0ve confidence, bringing in new materials, references, techniques and ideas into the gallery environment
• Are able to plan ac0vi0es in response to organisa0onal themes
• Use re-usable, biodegradable and/or natural materials wherever possible
Have a knowledge of safeguarding best prac0ce
• Have a DBS Cer0ficate or are willing to obtain one
• Ability to document and share creative work through writing, photography, video, or other media.
