The Role – Group Finance Director
An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead the Finance department as Group Finance Director of Governance. The new role will provide financial oversight and leadership across all activities of the R&A Group and the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews. The Group Finance Director will be the senior Finance leader for the business and will have full line management responsibility for the Finance team, along with accountability to drive forward financial performance, aligned to Strategic priorities.
The role ensures long-term financial sustainability while supporting The R&A’s strategic priorities to Unite, Inspire and Lead golf worldwide. The role provides strategic financial leadership, robust financial control and commercial insight across a complex international organisation.
The role will hold a number of directorships across the business and act as the financial secretary of the Club.
This is a full-time position working 35 hours per week, with regular presence required at our St Andrews offices.

Who We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate will have the following experience and attributes:
• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
• Significant senior finance leaderships experience within a complex, multi-entity organisation.
• Experience of working with Boards and senior executives
• Strong commercial acumen and analytical capability
• High standards of integrity, professionalism, and judgement
• Experience of international operations and multi-currency environments
• Experience in sport, events, media or international organisations, and knowledge of purpose-led organisations is desirable
• Excellent leadership and communication skills
• Collaborative and relationship-driven
• Resilient and adaptable in a dynamic environment
• A proven record of embodying organisational values with a commitment to professionalism and aiming high
