The Vacancy
Gardener (fixed term)
- Hours:6 hours per week
- Contract:fixed term contract until 31st October 2026
- Location:Oxford
- Salary:£26,774 per annum (pro rata)

We are looking for a friendly, practical gardener to help care for the grounds at Helen House. Working closely with the Lead Gardener, you will help keep the gardens welcoming, safe and well maintained, while also supporting and coordinating volunteers.
Key responsibilities:
- Support the Lead Gardener with the day-to-day maintenance of the gardens and outdoor spaces.
- Help plan and carry out seasonal gardening tasks such as planting, pruning, watering and weeding.
- Provide guidance and encouragement to volunteers working in the garden.
- Help ensure tools, equipment and work areas are kept safe, tidy and organised.
You’ll bring:
- Practical gardening experience.
- Enjoy working outdoors and be confident working as part of a team.
- Be organised, reliable and comfortable supporting volunteers in a positive and inclusive way.
- An understanding of health and safety in a gardening environment would be helpful.
- A passion for gardening and would like to help create a beautiful outdoor space for children, families and staff.
