The Grace Eyre Foundation is a charity based in Brighton & Hove and the wider Sussex community that has been working with people with a Learning Disability and autistic people since 1898. Our mission is to work towards being led by people with Learning Disabilities and autistic people to deliver high-quality housing, support and activities in their local communities. We are recruiting Flexible Support Workers to work with various adults with learning disabilities and/or autism and other complex needs in our established Outreach services across Chichester, Bognor, Selsey, Bosham and the surrounding area.
Experience with working with people with learning disabilities, in the care industry and having lived experience welcome but we do offer full training for those that are wanting to come into the health and social care industry.
Support workers empower, encourage and support people to live independent, fun, full, healthy and ordinary lives. There is also a focus on ensuring people we support play active roles in their local communities, and the right candidate will support people at our Just Be You social club in Bognor. Flexible support workers provide cover support for annual leave, sickness and training and to cover gaps in our services where we need to recruit to over Chichester, Bognor, Selsey, Bosham and the surrounding area. You will be guaranteed working hours of up to 25 hours contracted per week and generally pick your shifts as you go using our electronic rota system on a work phone provided to you. This role is suited to someone who’s availability may change on a weekly basis, second job, working around school hours, evenings and weekends etc. We are interested in interviewing people who have good availability and can work on a flexible basis and happy travelling between services. We have weekday, weekend and evening shifts available. Occasional sleep in shifts available for the right candidate with experience in 24/7 support service.
The people we support are looking for people who are patient / fun / caring / understanding / being listened to / going out and about in the community together and helping me to try new things / help to look after myself and cook and clean with me / let me try things for myself before attempting to do things for me!
