“I am a support worker for Grace Eyre Choices – Supported Living and Community Outreach – I only work part time but I feel part of a strong team.
My job involves supporting two people in their home with their day to day lives. I support them all aspects, from personal care, household tasks, laundry, making choices and enabling them to be proactive in the community as much as possible. At times there can be challenges, but when we are all sitting around the kitchen table on a Saturday morning, housework done, listening to the radio, having morning tea, with smiles on everyone’s faces, it’s worthwhile.
Grace Eyre is very customer focused and believes everyone should have opportunities to live the life they want to. They strive to look after their staff, taking care of our wellbeing and offering opportunities for staff development.”
– Debra, Choices Support Worker
“I am an Active Lives Support Worker and I run a variety of workshops for people with learning disabilities, including creative arts and drama. As a theatre specialist, I participate in and run most of the theatre and drama activities at Grace Eyre. I also work with people one-to-one, which can vary the activities we do day-to-day. I love everyone I work with, both staff and the people who use our service, and the Grace Eyre community is a pleasure to be a part of. I enjoy being sociable, seeing people smile, and assisting people to become more independent. Staff well-being is a high priority at Grace Eyre, and I feel very supported which is important to me.”
