The Vacancy

We're looking for a knowledgeable and proactive Fire Safety Support Officer to play a key role in supporting the delivery of our fire safety programme and ensuring we continue to meet the highest standards of compliance across our property portfolio.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced fire safety professional who enjoys combining technical expertise with stakeholder engagement, operational coordination and continuous improvement. You'll work closely with our Head of Fire Safety and wider Fire Safety Team, helping to deliver vital services that protect our customers, colleagues and communities.
What you'll be doing
As our Fire Safety Support Officer, you'll be a trusted source of technical advice and operational support, helping to ensure our fire safety activities are delivered efficiently, effectively and in line with legislation and best practice.
You'll:
- Act as the first point of contact for fire safety enquiries from colleagues, customers, contractors and external stakeholders.
- Support the delivery of our Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) programme, coordinating inspections, scheduling works and monitoring progress against key performance targets.
- Manage outsourced fire risk assessments, including contractor liaison, access arrangements, purchase orders and invoice processing.
- Lead on compliance with Regulation 9 of the Fire Safety Regulations 2022, ensuring residents receive accurate and up-to-date fire safety information.
- Respond to solicitor enquiries relating to property sales, providing fire safety documentation and compliance information.
- Support colleagues with technical guidance on fire safety actions and internal compliance systems.
- Maintain accurate records, audit trails and compliance data across our fire safety systems.
- Produce and analyse performance data, helping to identify trends and opportunities for service improvement.
You'll also have the opportunity to contribute to improving processes, systems and ways of working as fire safety legislation and best practice continue to evolve.
What we're looking for
You will have a strong technical understanding of fire safety and compliance to the role, combined with excellent organisational and communication skills.
Ideally you will bring to the role, or will be willing to commit to:
- Level 3 Fire Safety qualification from a recognised awarding body.
- Recognised Fire Risk Assessor qualification.
- Minimum Technician membership/status with a professional body such as the Institute of Fire Engineers (IFE) or Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM).
- Fire Door Inspection Diploma (FDIS).
- Strong knowledge of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and associated fire safety legislation and guidance.
- Experience supporting technical fire safety programmes or workstreams.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Confidence using Microsoft Office and job management/CRM systems.
- Experience managing records, compliance data and reporting requirements.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and present technical and performance data.
We'd love to see
- Knowledge of landlord health and safety responsibilities within a housing environment.
- Experience managing contractor relationships and compliance programmes.
- A passion for continuous improvement and delivering excellent customer outcomes.
This is a hybrid role enabling you to base yourself from home. Travel will be required for the role for working together days, so you’ll be suitably based to travel within our operating region, with a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
Our operating region includes Hampshire, Wiltshire, Somerset, Dorset, Devon, Cornwall and London.
