About Us

Founded in 1997, GamCare is one of the leading providers of information, advice and support for anyone affected by gambling harms. It operates the National Gambling Helpline, delivers free treatment services across multiple regions in Great Britain, and raises awareness about gambling harms through a variety of prevention-based programmes.

The Role

This is an exciting time to join GamCare’s Finance team as we continue to strengthen our finance processes, systems and support for colleagues across the organisation. We are recruiting a Finance Officer to play an important role in the smooth running of day-to-day finance operations, helping to ensure transactions are processed accurately, queries are managed efficiently, and financial records are maintained to a high standard.

In this role, you will support a wide range of finance activities including purchase ledger, sales ledger, staff expenses, supplier and customer administration, reconciliations and finance inbox management. You will also provide support across payroll administration, banking, month-end activities, audit information requests, compliance and finance systems, as required.

This is a varied and pivotal role where your customer-focused approach will make a difference to timely and efficient finance processes. You will assist the Finance team in providing a reliable service to colleagues, suppliers, customers and other stakeholders, contributing to GamCare’s wider work supporting people affected by gambling harms.

About You

You will be comfortable working with financial information, handling routine finance administration and supporting colleagues with day-to-day queries. You will understand the importance of accuracy, clear documentation and following agreed finance policies and procedures.

You will be organised, detail-focused with the ability to manage a busy workload, with good working knowledge of Outlook, Word and Excel will help you carry out everyday finance tasks confidently and efficiently.

You will communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues, budget holders, suppliers and customers, helping to resolve queries or obtain information when needed. Experience of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, VAT transaction processing, payroll administration or the not-for-profit sector would be beneficial but is not essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate day-to-day finance records across core areas such as ledgers, expenses, customer and supplier information, and other routine finance administration.
  • Respond to finance queries and inboxes in a timely and professional way, escalating more complex issues when needed.
  • Support regular finance processes including reconciliations, banking, payroll preparation, month-end tasks and other team priorities.
  • Apply finance policies and procedures consistently, ensuring transactions are processed correctly and records are well documented.
  • Work flexibly with the wider Finance team, supporting audits, finance systems and colleagues across the organisation where required.

Benefits You Can Enjoy

  • 33 days basic annual leave entitlement per annum, including bank holidays, pro-rated for part-time colleagues and increasing with service.
  • A generous pension scheme, with GamCare contributing 6% and colleagues contributing 2%.
  • Discretionary company sick pay from day one of service.
  • Employee Assistance Programme – 24-hour support.

GamCare are committed to offering the best support to people affected by gambling harms, as such we welcome applications from candidates with lived experience.
