About the service
Ayrshire Care at Home and Housing Support Services
Sense Scotland supports a number of adults with communication support needs and /or a physical/learning disability across Ayrshire. Within Sense Scotland we provide Care at Home and Housing Support services to 5 individuals within their own tenancies. Sense Scotland provides flexible 24hr support to the people we work for. Sense Scotland pride themselves on ensuring that small dedicated teams of support are built round the people we work for to ensure they have consistency in their lives.
This post requires the successful candidate to be available to work early and back shift (9am-9pm) with occasional respite cover over the year.
All of the people who use our services require practical help for day to day living including assistance to communicate their needs, support with mobility and in some cases support with eating and drinking and personal care. Some individuals do not communicate through speech but through their behaviour and for some this can present challenges. You will receive extensive training in understanding behaviours and how best to manage this.
At Sense Scotland we recognise that everyone comes with great personalities and can make an active contribution to their community in their own way with our support. Each individual is unique and has their own personal support plan to ensure they reach their potential and have the kind of support that is important to them. We work closely with families and good communication with families is an important part of the role.
The nature of the services provided by Sense Scotland means that no two days look the same. We are looking to recruit an individual that is open to trying new activities and who is able to contribute their skills to ensure that the people we work for have as fulfilling a life as possible. As well as promoting the importance of social activities and building community connection there is an expectation that the successful candidate will take responsibility for ensuring the individual health needs are met. The ability to lead a team towards meeting the outcomes of the service is essential.
The people we support have access to their own vehicle therefore a clean driving license is desirable. There will be 1:1 working required but you will have regular access to peer support and the opportunity work alongside other supervisors and managers for guidance. Experience is desirable but not essential as we provide extensive training, local induction and regular support check-ins.
This is a highly rewarding post. We are looking for a person who is; highly enthusiastic, organised, a team player and is willing to learn new things. A caring nature is essential to the role. The successful candidate must have a good approach to the management of risk and keeping the people we support safe.
