Facilitator Callout: Play, Facilitate, and Explore

Belgrade Theatre
Full-time
29th June 2026
Listed today

The Belgrade Theatre is looking to connect with facilitators, teaching artists and creative practitioners working across Coventry and the West Midlands.

On Thu 16 Jul, we’ll be running a free practical workshop focusing on facilitation through play. The workshop is designed for those interested in an opportunity to share practice and in the possibility of joining the theatre’s growing network of freelance facilitators.

We’re particularly interested to meet facilitators and artists with interest in and experience of working with children and young people, as this is a key area of our current and future programme delivery.

About The Workshop

The session will be led by Jay Zorenti-Nakhid (Associate Director at the Belgrade Theatre), whose work sits at the intersection of directing, facilitation, and participatory practice.

This is a hands-on, play-based workshop for artists who are interested in:

· How we hold space;

· Using games and play as tools for creativity and connection;

· Working collaboratively with participants and communities;

· Developing and sharing facilitation practice with peers.

Alongside practical activities led by Jay, there will be a peer-to-peer practice-sharing element to the session. Participants will be invited to bring and facilitate a short game, exercisem or activity that they use, or would like to test, in their own practice. This is an opportunity to exchange ideas, experience different approaches, and learn directly from one another.

Expect to be active, participatory, and open to facilitating within the room.

Who Is It For?

We are looking for artists who are:

· Already facilitating work with people ages 0–25 and beyond;

· Experienced or interested, in working with children and young people;

· Curious about play, participation, and group dynamics;

· Comfortable sharing a short game or exercise with the group;

· Open to learning through doing, reflection, and peer exchange;

· Based in or connected to Coventry and the West Midlands (priority).

You might be (but are not limited to):

· A theatre-maker, performer, or director;

· A workshop facilitator or teaching artist;

· A community artist or participatory practitioner;

· An Early Years practitioner using creative approaches;

· An educator working creatively with children and young people.

Future Opportunities

As well as being a professional development and networking opportunity, this workshop forms part of our ongoing effort to grow our network of freelance facilitators and creative practitioners.

Please be aware that there is no formal recruitment process attached to the workshop, and attendance does not guarantee future work. However, it offers a chance for us to get to know artists through practice and begin building relationships for potential future opportunities.

To Express Interest

To express your interest in attending the workshop, please complete the short form here. A Word version of this form is available on request.

If you’d like to submit your interest in a different format, we’re happy to support you. Please contact communityadmin@belgrade.co.uk to discuss.

Due to the focus on practice sharing and peer-to-peer learning, there are a maximum of 15 places available on the workshop.

We hope to offer similar opportunities for practice sharing in the future. To hear more about these and other opportunities, please sign up to the theatre’s Artist Network.

Access

We are committed to making sure we are reducing as much as possible any barriers to D/deaf, Disabled & Neurodiverse artists taking up this opportunity.

All participants attending the workshop will be sent an access requirements form prior to the session.

If we cannot practically fulfil a request, we will be honest about this and work with the participant to find a workable solution.

Please note that the workshop will take place in the Patrick Suite, on the 4th floor of the theatre. The space is accessible either by lift or stairs (approx. 60 steps).
