The South West Heritage Trust is looking for a skilled and practical Exhibition Technician to support the creation, installation and maintenance of exhibitions and displays across our museum sites.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong hands-on making skills, an eye for design, and a passion for delivering high-quality visitor experiences through creative, well-crafted exhibitions.
Working as part of our Design and Curatorial team, you will play a key role in delivering a varied programme of exhibitions and heritage projects. You will construct and install exhibition elements, produce bespoke display materials, and help ensure our galleries are well-maintained.
This is a flexible, annualised hours role. Your working pattern will vary across the year depending on project demands, with occasional evening and weekend work required.
Key responsibilities of the role:
- Support the design, construction and installation of exhibitions and displays.
- Work collaboratively on exhibition planning and delivery.
- Assist with the transport, installation and maintenance of collections and displays across sites.
- Support graphic production and finishing for exhibitions and wider heritage projects.

- Maintain a safe, well-organised workshop environment in line with Health & Safety requirements.
You will bring a strong combination of technical skill, creativity and practical problem-solving. You’ll be comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative team, often to tight deadlines. You will have experience in construction, fabrication or a relevant design discipline, strong practical skills, particularly in woodworking and use of workshop machinery and an eye for detail and design quality. Good communication skills and a collaborative approach are essential and the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy environment.
