We are looking for an Estate Manager to join our team. The role is full time, you'll be on a permanent contract and will be working 36 hours per week.
This unique role brings together building and nature conservation, people and project management to provide a holistic estates management service to the Territory. The role will lead on some of the more complex planned maintenance and gives the opportunity to innovate and shape the way we work.
We offer flexible working arrangements where the role allows. This is a full time role, is home based and will mainly cover our sites in the Midlands area but on occasions will be required to provide support to some of our SW sites too.
Depending on where you are based there maybe an opportunity to hot desk at one of our local sites.
In this role, you will lead your team of up to 4 people - working across Building Conservation, Landscape Management and M+E services - to deliver a maintenance programme of cyclical works and small projects, with a budget of circa £2m.
Your main objective will be to ensure that our sites remain safe, accessible and operational for our visitors. You will have a strong Health & Safety ethos and lead your team to ensure Statutory Compliance and Safety Critical Reporting are diligently undertaken across your territory. You will also have a unique and exciting opportunity to influence, innovate and deliver carbon reduction, improved nature conservation and champion Sustainable Conservation.

The Estates Management team has a strong leadership ambition. You will be working with the Senior Estate Manager to empower, develop, inspire and enable your team to be the very best they can be, collaborating closely with colleagues across the charity. You will also mentor and support your team in the effective management and administration of a suite of maintenance contracts to achieve agreed levels of conservation, maintenance and site presentation.
In addition to great leadership and a passion for the work undertaken by English Heritage, we also need your experience in project and program management to deliver work on budget, to time and of the right quality for the sites in our care, helping to secure them for future generations.

Essential experience should include;
- Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject - e.g. building surveying, engineering, project management or nature conservation and grounds maintenance and experience in maintaining buildings and grounds covering multiple sites.
- Experience of managing planned maintenance and minor works contracts.
- Experience of managing budgets and work programmes in the region of £1M to £2M.
- Experience and understanding of buildings and grounds maintenance in a historic environment.
- Experience of successfully leading and managing a team.
- Experience of using IT Facilities Management Systems
