The Role

Our tax team is growing, and we have a fantastic opportunity for an exceptional Employment Tax Director to join our leadership team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our employment tax offering. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced employment tax specialist who combines deep technical expertise with outstanding commercial and leadership skills.

The role can be based from any of our offices including Leeds, Manchester, Glasgow, Carlisle and Newcastle.

Providing an advisory service across the entire spectrum of Employment Tax areas for our clients will be a key part of the role, including HMRC enquiries, employment status/IR35 advisory, National Minimum Wage, CIC etc, and projects with the wider Tax team such as due diligence support, CCO and SAO reviews.

Our Employment Tax Team services clients across a wide range of sectors, predominantly family or owner managed businesses up to £200m+ turnover.

The main elements of this role will include:

  • Providing strategic support to the Employment Tax Partner in leading and developing the Employment Tax Team and service offerings, driving growth across the service line, and contributing to the strategic direction of the firm.
  • Leading major advisory projects and act as a senior technical expert within the firm.
  • Build, manage, and develop strong client relationships with key clients across the firm
  • Play a key role in shaping team structure, resourcing, and capability to leading a high performing team, promoting excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Developing relationships and working with external parties, e.g. HMRC, employment lawyers, industry bodies, etc

The Candidate

In order to fulfil the responsibilities of the position, we would like candidates to have:

  • Extensive experience in employment tax, ideally at Senior Manager/Director level in a professional services environment
  • Strong technical experience across all areas of employment tax
  • Proven ability to lead large, complex projects and manage stakeholders at senior level
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with colleagues, clients, and external stakeholders
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to solve problems
  • Inclusive leadership style with a passion for developing people and building high performing teams
