The Team

These services sit as part of our Service Support and Delivery organisational pillar.

This role sits within Midlothian Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Services which are offered across Midlothian.

Midlothian Access Point & Guided Self-Help

Development Workers work alongside people to improve their mental health and wellbeing through offering trauma informed, person-centred support on an individual and group basis; in person, online and bytelephone.

Development Workers offer 4 sessions of Guided Self Help. Guided Self Help is a service offered toMidlothian residents who are experiencing mild/moderate symptoms of anxiety, low mood, stress and sleepproblems.

Role Focus

• I am responsible for the design, development and delivery of services in my area that support people to improve their mental health and wellbeing and realise their potential, in line with their hopes and goals.

• I am community focused and work collaboratively, with curiosity, and flexibility.

• I respond to the needs of the community and people I work with. I review feedback on training facilitated, implementing changes based on this feedback. Through this I ensure an enabling approach is adopted, drawing on individuals’ personal assets and support networks together with community resources.

• I build and maintain comprehensive knowledge of community groups and services to connect people with the most appropriate support through local knowledge

• I develop creative and innovative ways to reach out to those most isolated and vulnerable within their community

• I value and encourage insights and the expertise of lived experience, using my own experience where appropriate.

• I am accountable for demonstrating the quality and effectiveness of my work and providing accurate and timely information into organisational systems and producing reports based on my area of work.

• My approach is compassionate, and trauma informed; putting people at the heart of all I do, ensuring support is offered when and how people need it and is accessible to all.
