Deputy Retail Manager - Gladstone Street Warehouse

Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland, is more than just a charity we are a lifeline to older people in our local communities. As part of our mission to support older people in their everyday lives, we provide a range of services, including the warehouse, where large items of home, garden, and office furniture, bric- a- brac await our customers who love to bag a bargain.

We are currently recruiting for a Deputy Warehouse Manager to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate, driven, and ready to take on a challenge in a busy environment. You'll work closely with our Warehouse Manager and a dedicated group of volunteers to ensure everything runs smoothly. If you have the experience, skills, and enthusiasm we want to hear from you.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Assisting the Warehouse Manager in overseeing all aspects of warehouse operations, ensuring the smooth flow of large furniture items ready for sale.
  • Leading and supporting a team of volunteers, offering guidance, training, and motivation.
  • Ensuring excellent customer service by delivering an outstanding shopping experience and assisting with upselling products and services.
  • Keeping the warehouse organised, tidy, and running efficiently – always with attention to detail.
  • Playing a key role in achieving sales targets and maintaining a positive, proactive environment.

What We're Looking For:

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills – you will need to be personable and engaging, within the team and with our customers.
  • Be hands-on, with a proactive approach to the role.
  • Strong organisational skills and an eye for detail – you’ll manage a busy warehouse and keep everything running on time.
  • Experience in a customer-facing role or sales environment, with a drive and desire to upsell and meet targets.
  • Good IT skills and the ability to use internal till systems.
  • A flexible attitude and the ability to multitask under pressure.
  • A confident, decisive leader who can make quick, informed decisions.

Hours: 22.5 hours per week: including bank holidays & alternate Saturdays

Salary: £12.71 per hour £17911.59 per annum

Base: Gladstone Street, Leicester LE1 2BN.
