Woodland View provides high-quality care and support for up to five children and young people aged 10–19 with moderate to severe learning disabilities, autism, and other complex needs. Located in Hertfordshire, the home offers 52-week residential care and includes an emergency suite for short-term stays. The home benefits from excellent facilities, including a sensory room, a large garden with play equipment, and good transport links. We have a variety of activities, which staff can also participate in. Young people enjoy regular community outings such as cinema trips, swimming, shopping, visits to trampoline parks, local parks and lakes, and occasional football matches.

Working alongside the Registered Manager, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day running of the home, supporting staff, maintaining high standards of care and compliance, and ensuring every young person receives the support they need to thrive.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Supporting the Registered Manager in the daily operation of the children's home
  • Deputising in the Registered Manager's absence
  • Leading, motivating, and developing Team Leaders and Support Workers
  • Ensuring compliance with Children's Homes Regulations and Ofsted standards
  • Promoting excellent safeguarding practices and acting as a role model for best practice
  • Supporting placement assessments and admissions processes
  • Managing staffing rotas and resource allocation
  • Working collaboratively with families, schools, healthcare professionals, and external agencies
  • Coaching, mentoring, and developing staff to achieve outstanding outcomes
  • Supporting quality assurance, audits, and evidence gathering across Ofsted's Quality Standards
  • Participating in on-call duties and occasional waking night shifts/sleep-ins as required

About You

We're looking for someone who is compassionate and a committed professional who shares our belief in the potential of every child. Someone who is passionate about providing exceptional care and has the leadership skills to inspire others.

You will have:

  • A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare(essential)
  • A willingness to complete the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management (Residential Childcare)
  • At least 2 years' experienceworking within a children's residential setting
  • Strong knowledge of autism, learning disabilities, and positive behaviour support
  • Experience working with families and multi-agency professionals
  • Excellent communication, leadership, organisational, and planning skills
  • A proactive, person-centred approach to care and support
  • Strong IT and record-keeping skills
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use
  • A full UK manual/automatic driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use

Training and Development

At Macintyre we fully support your training and development. We know it can be daunting to start a new job, and not everyone learns the same way, so throughout your probation we will provide you with a mixture of e-Learning, face-to-face training and mentoring support whilst on the job.
