Bristol Cathedral are looking to recruit a full time Deputy Head Verger.
The verger team is at the heart of the Cathedral’s operational and liturgical life. The team is responsible for supporting the Dean, Residentiary Canons and other clergy to carry out their roles, which will include overseeing the delivery of the practical arrangements for services. The Vergers are also a key part of our warm welcome and oversee practical arrangements that ensure the smooth running of the Cathedral throughout the week - including for general visiting, concerts and events.
As the Deputy Head Verger, as well as having specific responsibilities within the team, you will provide oversight and leadership, supporting and reporting to the Head Verger.
Bristol is the largest city in the Southwest, and the Cathedral is set on College Green, at the geographical and cultural centre of this modern, vibrant and diverse city. The city has much to celebrate and enjoy – with a creative business and cultural life and a strong festival tradition.
The Cathedral has been a Christian presence in the city for nearly 900 years and is part of the wider Diocese of Bristol which extends from Swindon through South Gloucestershire and North Wiltshire. We want to reach out to the city and make people welcome.
