Deputy Head of Wardrobe - Matilda The Musical (1758)

The RSC is looking for a Deputy Head of Wardrobe to join the team at Matilda The Musical in London.

The appointed candidate would ideally start in May/June 2026

The Deputy Head of Wardrobe will assist the Head of Wardrobe to ensure the department runs smoothly on a day-to-day basis.

All applicants must have an excellent understanding and extensive practical knowledge of the principles and safe working practices of all areas of wardrobe and costume, as well as professional theatre experience relevant to the post. Previous West End experience is highly desirable, as are hand and machine sewing skills.

This position is offered as a full-time, fixed-term contract for 12 months, working Tuesday – Saturday (7 shows per week including matinees).

There are various roles within the RSC that require a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. As part of our recruitment and selection process and commitment to safeguarding, we will undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check of all individuals in this role. This is because they will be in Regulated Activity, regularly providing care to children & young people. Any offer of employment will be subject to a satisfactory disclosure report and satisfactory references. An enhanced DBS check is required for all dressers at Matilda The Musical.

The closing date for receipt of completed applications is midnight on Wednesday 22 April 2026

Interviews are expected to take place in w/c 27 April 2026.

All applications should be made online using the RSC website. If you need any assistance when applying, please email jobs@rsc.org.uk
