Deputy Head of LX (No. 2) - Matilda The Musical UK & Ireland Tour (1835)

To support the ongoing Matilda The Musical UK & Ireland Tour, we are looking for an experienced Deputy Head of LX to join us from

August 2026 until January 2027.

Working closely with the Head of LX, you will help manage an effective lighting department, maintaining the artistic integrity of the show's lighting design throughout the tour, in every venue while ensuring the smooth running of rehearsals, performances, get-ins and get-outs to the highest possible standard.

To be suitable for this role, it is essential that you have:

• Professional theatre experience and qualifications relevant to the role.
• Experience as a lighting technician at a similar professional level.
• A strong understanding of theatre lighting systems, electrical installation, theatre rigging and safe working practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• An understanding and appreciation of other theatre departments and the creative process.
• Strong organisational and management skills.
• A proactive, flexible and collaborative approach to work.
• The ability to thrive within a close-knit touring team.

Applicants must have an understanding and practical knowledge of the principles and safe working practices in all areas of touring theatre.

This position is offered as a full time, fixed term, touring contract commencing part way through the tour in August 2026 and ending in January 2027. There are 8 shows a week over six days (Tuesday to Sunday).

All offers are conditional upon confirmation of right to work in the UK, suitable references and satisfactory health profile.
