At Tone House, you’ll be supporting young people to feel safe, understood, and able to be themselves.
They are teenagers with their own personalities, interests, and experiences. They enjoy gaming, music, social media, sports like football and boxing, creative outlets such as art and fashion, and spending time with friends. They also value simple things — good food, time outdoors, and having space to just be.
Some days they’ll want to talk, laugh, and engage. Other days, they may need space, calm, and understanding. What matters most is having adults around them who can
adapt, stay consistent, and build real trust over time.Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a
Deputy Children’s Home Managerwho can bringstrong leadership alongside genuine, relationship-led care.Someone who is:
- Calm, patient, and emotionally consistent
- Approachable, genuine, and non-judgemental
- A clear communicator, able to set boundaries without confrontation
- Relatable, with a good sense of humour
- Trauma-informed, understanding behaviour as communication
- Consistent and reliable, following through on what they say
Your Role in the Home
As Deputy Manager, you will play a
key leadership rolewhile remaining closely involved in the day-to-day lives of the young people.Supporting Young People
- Build trusting, meaningful relationships
- Support emotional wellbeing using trauma-informed approaches
- Encourage independence, including cooking, planning, and decision-making
- Create engaging, age-appropriate activitiesbased on their interests
- Provide clear, calm boundariesthat promote safety and structure
- Offer valuable 1:1 time, helping young people feel heard and understood
Leadership & Operational Responsibilities
- Support the day-to-day running of the home
- Lead shifts and act as a role model for staff
- Coach, mentor, and develop team members
- Deputise in the absence of the Registered Manager
- Oversee safeguarding, risk management, and care planning
- Maintain Ofsted compliance and high-quality standards of care
- Contribute to a positive, supportive team culture

- Minimum 2 years’ experience in residential childcare
- Experience as a Deputy Manager or Senior Support Worker
- QCF Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- Willingness to complete Level 5 in Leadership & Management
- Full UK driving licence
- Flexibility to meet the needs of the home
