Summary of the Role

As Curriculum Coordinator, you will be responsible for ensuring that students receive bespoke high quality curriculums that are tailored to their individual needs, aspirations and abilities You will lead on individual curriculum planning, monitoring student progress and engagement, whilst coordinating the practical delivery of the curriculum across your assigned students.. You will ensure that teachers are supported in the delivery of the curriculum and will work closely with the Head of Curriculum Content to ensure that students make progress and have clear pathways beyond TCW. As the core link between teachers and the office education team, you will hold oversight of all the students’ learning and development across the school ensuring a consistent and high quality educational experience for every student.

Responsibilities:

Curriculum

1.Design and create initial curriculum plans for new students, ensuring each curriculum is bespoke to their needs, abilities and qualifications and includes the required hours across all core subjects.

2.Continue to monitor and develop students' curricula throughout their time at TCW, ensuring they accurately reflect evolving needs, abilities and qualification requirements.

3.Complete, maintain and update Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for all assigned students.

4.Work with the SEN Lead to ensure students' EHCP targets are effectively embedded within their individual curriculum.

5.Attend initial meetings to further establish students’ curriculum needs and abilities and create an introductory education plan for students’ first two weeks of placement

6.Lead the Quality of Education meetings, using student progress and engagement data to identify concerns, gaps and required interventions, and ensuring underachievement or disengagement is identified early and responded to appropriately.

7.Track all students' progress against their current and target grades, making timely adjustments to their curriculum or educational package where required.

8.Support teachers in assessing student progress using TCW's DSM tracking format and in completing half-termly assessments, providing training and guidance where needed.

9.Be accountable for the accurate and timely completion of half-termly reports.

10.Support teachers in report writing, including providing training, guidance and proofreading to quality-assure reports before they are sent to parents and stakeholders.

11.Work alongside teachers to further their professional development, feeding back any concerns to the Teaching and Learning Officer.

12.Work alongside the Teaching and Learning Officers to ensure the curriculum needs of all students are met.

13.Work with the Student Welfare Officer and teacher to encourage a transition from 1:1 to group education where possible.

14.Support teachers and Student Welfare Officers in post-16 planning, ensuring all students have an appropriate pathway plan in place.

15.Keep local authorities and annual reviews up to date with students' pathway plans.

16.Coordinate and develop the TCW alumni programme, maintaining accurate records of student destinations, progression pathways and NEET data following students' departure from TCW.

17.Ensure all curriculum documentation remains accurate, compliant and inspection-ready, and monitor the quality and consistency of curriculum delivery and educational planning across assigned students.

Education Team

1.Establish and maintain supportive relationships with teachers to ensure effective two-way communication regarding the attainment and progression of students.

2.Support teachers with the maintenance of risk assessments for their students, ensuring all documents are up to date and have been read by all appropriate staff.

3.Ensure student information is accessible and accurate for the correct staff members.

4.Lead on creating student and teacher timetables and administrating the setup of new student and teacher pairings, informing the Head of Admissions of any decisions made and ensuring timetables are updated accurately.

5.Support the cover team, assisting in the coordination of covering students' lessons when teachers are absent.

6.Represent the education team in meetings and phone calls with parents, carers, students and/or referrers, and lead Annual Review meetings.

7.Manage and maintain records of the school's resources, assisting staff in accessing these.

8.Attend whole-school and subject-specific training as required, and support the delivery of training when needed, including curriculum training for new staff.

9.Line manage designated staff members as directed by senior leadership, supporting the induction and onboarding of new staff members.

10.Cover colleagues within the team where required.

Exam Coordination

1.Coordinate the logistics of examinations for students in your assigned area, including creating timetables, organising staff invigilation, and supporting the preparation and submission of entries to examination bodies.

2.Ensure students receive all necessary information about their examination entries, dates, conduct, and the collection of results and certificates, in good time, and that all examination information is clearly displayed at the relevant centre.

3.Ensure all examinations start and finish in line with examination board regulations, including online examinations, and that all required stationery, materials and other resources are in place.

4.Work in close liaison with the Exams Officer to ensure examination administration is completed accurately and on time.

5.Respond to and manage queries from parents and students regarding qualifications.

2.Represent your areas of responsibility in management meetings and contribute to whole-school planning and development.

3.Create, develop and maintain all policies and procedures relating to your areas of responsibility.

4.Unlock and lock TCW buildings as required.

5.Be trained in DSL-approved safeguarding and follow all safeguarding policies and procedures to protect students.

6.Carry out general administrative duties and any ad-hoc tasks that can be reasonably expected in relation to the role.

Person Specification:

Essential:

Degree or equivalent

GCSEs in Maths, English and Science at grade C/4 or above.

A genuine commitment to making a difference to young people's lives and an understanding of the impact this role can have.

Experience of working with children and young people, or of coordinating children's activities or learning.

Knowledge of SEND, including an awareness of EHCPs and the range of complex and behavioural needs presented by students like those at TCW.

Sound knowledge of curriculum design and differentiation and the ability to adapt learning to meet individual student needs.

Excellent organisational and planning skills, with the ability to multitask, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.

High levels of accuracy and attention to detail, including in written documents and data.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and an excellent telephone manner.

Strong administration skills and good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Gmail and Google Drive.

Ability to work independently and on own initiative, as well as collaboratively as part of a team

Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, students, parents, carers and referrers.

Adaptable and flexible approach to work, willing to embrace change and challenge processes to improve efficiency.

An ability to demonstrate emotional resilience and professionalism whilst working under pressure or in stressful environments.

The job description is not an exhaustive list and there may be times when the Headteacher or Executive Headteacher will require certain tasks to be undertaken that may not be listed here. These will always fall within the policies and procedures of TCW and within the remit of what may be expected in your role. There will always be a discussion between all parties on whether the successful candidate feels they can manage these extra tasks.

Extra Information:

This is a salaried full time position. This role is only expected to work in the school during term time with the exception of an additional 10 specified, out-of-term, office days (dates TBC in advance of the commencement of the school year or upon request). Official leave is 20 days per annum (to be taken out of school time) plus bank holidays, however the rest of the school holidays staff are only expected to work from home to the degree required to meet their duties though should be contactable as required. This role may also be entitled to up to 5 days unpaid term-time leave per annum, to be taken in blocks of no more than 2 days at the discretion of the Headteacher.

The working hours are based on 08.00–16.30 with a 60-minute lunch break on weekdays, with some planning, preparation, reports, admin and meetings taking place outside of these hours. TCW reserves the right to hold meetings, social events and performances after these hours, which you would be expected to attend. This includes weekly Thursday training sessions, which run 4:30–6:00pm and the TCW showcase. Dates are provided at the beginning of every new academic year.

This role will be directly managed by the Deputy Head, with performance reviews happening in line with the appraisal policy. It is expected that all successful candidates will follow the policies and procedures of TCW at all times and conduct themselves in a manner that is deemed acceptable and appropriate by the CEO of TCW in accordance with the staff handbook.

All teachers and members of management will be required to meet the Ofsted criteria of good and always aim for outstanding as depicted in the Ofsted guidelines. Staff will be required to attend extra, unpaid training if they do not meet the criteria for good.

This role will be based in our South London School, with occasional visits to our other schools and central office where required. Due to the nature of this role, working from home during term time is not possible. All work is expected to be carried out onsite.
