Review of Salary and Benefits Framework – MAG Belgium

Mines Advisory Group (MAG) is seeking a qualified consultant or service provider to undertake a review of its salary and benefits framework for its Belgium entity.

About MAG

MAG (Mines Advisory Group) is an international humanitarian organisation working to save lives and build safer futures in conflict affected and fragile contexts. We operate globally across mine action and weapons and ammunition management programmes, working in partnership with governments, donors and affected communities.

Overview

MAG Belgium is a legally registered entity established to support our engagement with European institutions and funding mechanisms. With a small but growing team based in Belgium, we are seeking to ensure that our approach to salaries and benefits is competitive, compliant and aligned with both the local market and MAG’s global reward principles.

Purpose of the assignment

The purpose of this consultancy is to provide independent benchmarking and analysis to inform MAG’s approach to salaries and benefits for employees in Belgium. This will support decision making on how best to position our total reward offering in a way that is fair, sustainable and aligned with the Belgian market.

Scope of work

The assignment will focus on benchmarking and analysis and will include:

• Reviewing MAG’s job evaluation framework and aligning roles to appropriate market comparators
• Conducting salary benchmarking for professional roles within the Belgium and Brussels market
• Providing analysis of non statutory benefits, including typical market practice and tax efficient approaches
• Producing a clear and evidence based benchmarking report, including methodology and assumptions
• Recommending options for salary positioning and benefits, with indicative cost implications
• Highlighting risks, sensitivities and key considerations for implementation

There may be an opportunity for a follow on phase to support implementation, subject to internal decision making.

Deliverables

The successful provider will be expected to deliver:

• A benchmarking report covering salaries and benefits, including total reward analysis
• An options paper with recommendations and indicative cost implications
• A risk analysis outlining key considerations and sensitivities

Requirements

About you

We are looking for a consultant or organisation with:

• Proven experience in salary benchmarking within the Belgian market, ideally in Brussels
• Strong knowledge of Belgian benefits frameworks and tax or social security considerations
• Experience working with NGOs, non profit organisations or international organisations
• Ability to align job evaluation frameworks with market data and provide clear benchmarking logic
• A transparent and robust methodological approach, including clear articulation of assumptions and data sources
• Experience designing practical and proportionate reward frameworks for small or growing entities
• Strong data protection practices and understanding of GDPR requirements
• Capacity to deliver within a short timeframe with a clear and realistic delivery plan

How to apply

Interested consultants should submit a proposal including:

• CV(s) of the consultant(s) delivering the assignment
• Proposed methodology and approach
• Relevant experience, particularly in Belgium and or the NGO sector
• Proposed timeline
• Key assumptions and any exclusions
• Financial proposal including daily rates and total cost

MAG will provide the following documents to the selected provider to support this assignment, a prospective consultants may also request documents one and two, if desired, to assist with developing their submission.

  • MAG job evaluation framework and relevant example job specifications
  • Current remuneration arrangements

Quotations and applications must reach MAG no later than 8th May 2026.  Responses must be submitted in English, electronically through our applicant tracking system.

Benefits

Remuneration is based on submission of final deliverables. Payments will only be made upon MAG’s written acceptance of deliverables. All invoices must clearly reference the consultancy contract and deliverables achieved. Payments will be made within 30 days of receiving a correct invoice.

Prospective consultants may propose an alternative payment schedule in their proposal, should they wish.
