We're looking for a Support Worker to join our community team in Maesteg, providing 1:1 support to a deaf adult living in a supported living setting with their own house team. They have a brilliant sense of humour and a packed list of interests; watching sport, arts and crafts, getting out for a coffee, and exploring the community. Your role is to support their evening routine and help them stay connected to the social life they love and communicating through BSL.
This is a permanent role offering £13.00 per hour, currently working one evening per week (Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, 3:30pm–8:30pm) with the exact day to be discussed at interview.
Comprehensive training is provided from day one.
What you'll do
You'll provide personalised 1:1 support within the home and in the community, helping with:
- Evening routine and day-to-day tasks
- Communication support using BSL
- Social groups and community activities
- Working alongside the existing house team
What we're looking for
- Warm, kind and respectful; you put people at ease
- A good communicator who listens as much as they talk
- Enthusiastic about supporting someone to live life on their own terms
- Knowledge of sensory impairments or learning difficulties is beneficial
- BSL Level 1 or BSL as a first language is essential for this role
Essential requirements
- Full UK driving licence with use of your own vehicle
- Willingness to drive the client's vehicle
