Help us create safer, stronger communities.
At whg, our customers deserve to feel safe in their homes and neighbourhoods. As a Community Safety Advisor, you’ll play a vital role in tackling anti-social behaviour, supporting victims and working with customers, colleagues and partner agencies to resolve complex situations that make a real difference to people’s lives.
This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. One day you could be supporting a vulnerable customer experiencing persistent anti-social behaviour, the next you could be working alongside the Police and partner agencies, preparing evidence for court or helping neighbours resolve long-standing disputes through restorative approaches.
If you’re resilient, compassionate and confident dealing with challenging situations, we’d love to hear from you.
Main job responsibilities:
- Investigate reports of anti-social behaviour, ensuring cases are managed promptly, fairly and professionally.
- Take a problem-solving approach to resolve anti-social behaviour, balancing support, prevention and enforcement to achieve sustainable outcomes.
- Provide advice, guidance and practical support to victims of anti-social behaviour, crime and domestic abuse, helping to reduce repeat victimisation.
- Work with perpetrators to encourage positive behavioural change while taking proportionate enforcement action where necessary.
- Manage a varied caseload, prioritising cases according to risk and impact.
- Gather evidence, prepare detailed case files and represent whg during court proceedings when required.
- Use restorative justice and mediation techniques where appropriate to help customers resolve disputes and improve neighbour relationships.
- Work collaboratively with the Police, local authorities and other partner organisations to achieve the best outcomes for customers and communities.
- Maintain accurate case records and produce clear, concise reports.
- Keep up to date with relevant legislation, case law and best practice relating to anti-social behaviour.
We're looking for someone who has:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with perpetrators and victims
- The ability to produce accurate and succinct written reports
- Computer literate including experience of using Word, and Excel spreadsheets
- The ability to stay calm under pressure and communicate clearly when faced with agitation or aggression
- Personal resilience with regards to potentially hostile environments or individuals
- Significant experience of working in an anti-social behaviour environment
- Experience of successful case management
- In depth understanding of anti-social behaviour legislation
- Experience of partnership working
- A full, UK driving licence
What’s in it for you?
In return, you will receive a competitive salary, 27 days annual leave (plus Christmas shut down), a defined benefit pension scheme, health cash plan, a range of shopping and leisure discounts.
We are output focused and flexible and believe in giving colleagues the right balance of autonomy and support to enable them to work to their full potential.
