Community Mission Enabler

The Diocese of Carlisle is looking for the next enabling leader to build on the recent growth in new worshipping communities and community groups in an area that faces many challenges with consistent hope. You will serve collaboratively with the yet to be appointed house for duty priest-in-charge of St Mary’s Westfield to continue to develop a variety of worship and mission, and a wide welcome for all.

Working closely with the Parish of Distington and Harrington, and with ecumenical colleagues, this role offers creative potential and possibility to extend the number of hours with successful grant funding and entrepreneurial imagination. There are many local volunteers keen to see this project continue and grow, and who expect and pray for flourishing and fullness of life that God can offer in worship, service and collective creativity and endeavour.

Are you the person to galvanise this community hub to be all that it can be, by the grace of God?

This is a part-time position of 21 hours a week.

Salary 36, 842 FTE plus 15% non-contributory pension or an ordained candidate could choose to remain in the Church of England Clergy Pension Scheme.

This post is subject to an occupational requirement that the postholder be a practising Christian under Part 1 of Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010.

Closing date for Applications: 20th May 9am, 2026.

Interviews: St Mary, Westfield, 10th June, 2026.
