The Cheltenham Trust is seeking an exceptional commercial leader to join its Executive Leadership Team as Commercial Director.

This senior strategic role will shape and deliver the Trust’s commercial vision, driving sustainable income growth while enhancing the visitor experience across our diverse portfolio of cultural, heritage and leisure venues. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, the Commercial Director will lead the evolution of the Trust’s earned income model, maximising existing revenue streams and identifying new commercial opportunities that support the organisation’s long-term sustainability.

About the Role

As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Commercial Director will:

  • Define and deliver a Trust-wide commercial strategy.
  • Drive sustainable income growth across hospitality, venue hire, events and commercial partnerships.
  • Identify and develop new revenue-generating opportunities.
  • Maximise the commercial potential of the Trust’s unique venue portfolio.
  • Enhance and embed a high-quality, joined-up visitor experience across all venues.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing commercial team.
  • Provide strategic commercial insight to support organisational growth and resilience.

This is a significant opportunity to lead a step-change in commercial leadership, moving from operational income generation to a strategic, customer-focused commercial model.

About You

We’re looking for an entrepreneurial and commercially astute leader with substantial senior-level experience in a customer-facing organisation.

You will have:

  • A proven track record of delivering sustainable commercial growth.
  • Strong strategic, financial and commercial acumen.
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • The ability to build successful partnerships and identify new opportunities.
  • A customer-centric approach, using audience insight and experience to drive engagement and performance.
  • Experience leading organisational change and delivering measurable results.
