College Accountant

£67,119 – £77,512 (Grade 10) – inclusive of the Oxford University Weighting (Pro-Rata).

37.5 hours per week.

St Hugh’s is one of the constituent colleges of the University of Oxford, and the second-largest college in the University by student numbers, with a long-standing commitment to academic excellence, inclusion, and widening access. The College supports a diverse and active academic environment across a wide range of disciplines, bringing together students, academic staff and professional services colleagues in support of its core academic mission. Situated on a beautiful site near the new Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities, the College is made up of 70 academics, 130 professional services staff and 900 students. The College offers a unique and vibrant environment in which to work.

As we look forward to celebrating our 150th anniversary in 2036, the College is now s to join at this important point in our history. This is a senior and influential role, with responsibility for all of our financial reporting, compliance, analysis, and decision-support, and for working with senior managers across the College to improve our financial and operating performance.

Working closely with the Bursar, senior managers and colleagues across the College, the new College Accountant. This role is key to driving continuous improvement, ensuring we can fund our core activities and strategic priorities, and maintaining a strong focus on effective organisational and financial management.

We are seeking an experienced financial leader with commercial acumen and a proven track record in driving financial improvement. They will be a positive, inquisitive and creative thinker who takes ownership of opportunities and problems and who can thrive in a collaborative, multi-stakeholder environment.
