We are looking for a Collections Conservation Assistant to join our team. You'll be working on a fixed term, full time basis, working 36 hours per week.

This is a great opportunity for to plan and undertake collections care activities in historic properties and stores in the West working with the Collections Conservator. You will focus on the care and repacking of collections at Temple Cloud Store (primarily archival and archaeological collections) as well as the care of on-site collections at Pendennis Castle and a number of other smaller sites across the region with mainly archaeological collections.

As Collections Conservation Assistant you will assist with delivering the care and conservation of our historic collections in the west region, ranging from archaeology and artillery to decorative arts and social history, so they can continue to play a key role in bringing history to life.

You will provide collections care training and support to site staff and volunteers relating to conservation housekeeping and insect pest management and provide on-going support through visits and over the phone.

To be considered for a Collections Conservation Assistant you'll need to have experience of undertaking conservation housekeeping work for historic house collections and historic environments. This post will require flexibility to adapt to new challenges, as well as the willingness to travel extensively within the west region. Excellent communication skills and the ability to think on your feet are essential.

The key tasks of this role will be to plan, undertake and support appropriate collections care standards in historic properties and stores across sites in the West Territory, focusing on; conservation cleaning, environmental monitoring, insect pest monitoring, responding to any emergencies and protection during hospitality, filming, events and projects.
