About Us
Caritas Diocese of Salford is the principal social action agency of the Catholic Diocese. Our mission is to put Love Into Action. We help those across Greater Manchester and Lancashire experiencing poverty, disadvantage, and discrimination to transform their lives with dignity. We provide a practical response to those in crisis, suffering hardship or who are at risk. We rebuild lives for the long-term, enabling people to live in a safe, healthy, and secure environment. We call for a better, more just world, where the voices of the poor are heard and acted upon and positively influence the systems, decisions and resources that affect those in need.
About the job
We are looking to recruit a Cleaner to work across our two projects based at Denmark Road, Hulme, which are Morning Star Hostel and Cornerstone Day Centre. Morning Star provides a pathway out of homelessness for single men, and it provides high-quality, single-room accommodation with 24-hour staffing for 20 men. Cornerstone Day Centre is an open-door day centre for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The Cleaner will ensure that both projects are cleaned and maintained to a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness so that there is a welcoming environment for people who use our services. You will undertake daily cleaning duties following a schedule, this includes vacuuming, sweeping, mopping floors, cleaning toilets and showers in the day centre and cleaning communal rooms, corridors and bathrooms in the hostel. You will wash/dry towels and aprons from the day centre and bedding from the hostel. Additionally, you will clean vacant rooms to get them ready for new occupants. You will be observant and thorough with good attention to detail and be able to work independently and use your own initiative.
