Teaching that transforms lives. A career that grows with you.

If you are looking for a teaching role where you can build deep, meaningful connections with your students and see the real impact of your work every single day, MacIntyre School in Wingrave has a place for you.

Located in a quiet village setting in rural Buckinghamshire, our 41-week residential and day school supports children and young people aged 10–19 with severe learning disabilities, autism, and complex sensory or communication needs.

Teaching here is designed for real, individualised impact. With small class sizes of up to six students, you have the time, space, and resources to focus on what truly matters: personal progress, independence, and well-being.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Purpose-built learning: Utilize exceptional facilities including our Immersive Experience room, Therapy Zone, outdoor learning spaces, music and drama suite, and sports hall with a bouldering wall to deliver a creative, non-subject-specific curriculum.
  • Integrated approach: Work collaboratively alongside on-site therapists, behaviour support specialists, residential staff, and families to support each young person holistically across their waking day.
  • Classroom leadership: Lead, coach, and mentor a small team of Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) and Senior LSAs, modelling best practice and creating a calm, purposeful environment where everyone can do their best work.

About You

We are looking for a resilient, positive educator who brings warmth, creativity, and high expectations to the classroom. Whether your background is in SEN or mainstream education, if you have the drive to help young people thrive, we want to hear from you.

What you will bring:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised post-compulsory teaching qualification.
  • Strong educational foundations: The ability to plan, deliver, and monitor an engaging curriculum adapted to individual learning styles, communication needs, and social development.
  • Team leadership skills: A collaborative approach to managing, coaching, and motivating support staff within your classroom.
  • Values and mindset: Excellent communication skills, strong time management, and a firm belief in inclusion, dignity, and positive risk management.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to participate in a management on-call rota (evenings, weekends, and bank holidays as required).

(Note: Experience with severe learning disabilities or autism is welcome, but mainstream teachers with a strong interest in adaptive teaching or learning through play are equally encouraged to apply. Some students require support with personal care.)
