Children's Manager and Lead Chaperone - Matilda The Musical UK & Ireland Tour (1823)

To support the upcoming Matilda The Musical UK & Ireland Tour, we are looking for an experienced Children's Manager and Lead Chaperone to join us from August 2026 until

January 2027.

The Children's Manager will safeguard the children, lead and schedule a team of chaperones, liaise with parents and carers, and ensure all safeguarding, welfare and licensing requirements are met throughout the tour. The role will also help to ensure the production runs smoothly and consistently, adapting to challenges whilst maintaining the show's original artistic vision.

To be suitable for this role, it is essential that you have:

  • Hold a current DBS certificate and chaperone license.
  • Have experience of chaperoning children aged 8-13 in a professional theatre environment.
  • Experience of managing teams within a professional theatre or stage production environment.
  • Have knowledge of the regulatory requirements in relation to the duties of chaperoning.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safeguarding procedures and best practice.
  • A commitment to providing the highest levels of child centred care and safeguarding.
  • Excellent leadership and organisational skills.
  • Clear communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong administration and scheduling skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.

Applicants must have an understanding and practical knowledge of the principles and safe working practices in all areas of touring theatre.

This position is offered as a full time, fixed term, touring contract, commencing part way through the tour and ending in January 2027. There are 8 shows a week over six days (Tuesday to Sunday).

The RSC is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, this role will be subject to an enhanced DBS (Disclosure Barring Service) check. All offers are conditional upon confirmation of right to work in the UK, suitable references and satisfactory health profile.
