Are you looking for flexible, rewarding work that fits around your schedule?

Here at Sense, we support people with complex disabilities to live the life they choose; and we're looking for a Children's Assistant (Holiday Support) to join our team in Belfast. This is a casual contract role paying £13.00 per hour, with a flexible working pattern across school holiday periods and the opportunity to remain on our casual bank year-round.

About the role

Based at our Sense Hub Belfast, you'll be supporting children during our holiday schemes; including summer, Easter and Halloween. As a casual member of staff, you'll pick up shifts during these agreed holiday periods, making this a great opportunity for those looking for flexible, meaningful work at key times of year.

No two days will be the same. Your priority will be empowering the children you support to get the most from every session; in a safe, fun and inclusive environment.

This role may include supporting children with:

  • Learning new skills
  • Personal care and hygiene
  • Making sense of their environments and accessing their community
  • Using the communication that works best for them
  • Their social life and behaviour

We're looking for enthusiastic applicants who are:

  • Positive, with a can-do attitude
  • Caring and empathetic
  • Passionate about enhancing other people's lives
  • Willing to attend training as needed to support you in your role

You'll also need:

  • A QCF Level 2 Diploma in Childcare, Learning and Development or Playwork (or equivalent)
  • A minimum of 6 months' experience working with children (essential)
  • Experience working with children with special needs (desirable)
  • Some knowledge of BSL or Makaton (desirable)

You must be aged 18 or over to apply.
