Children’s and Families’ Enabler
The Parish of Thornbury is looking to employ a Children’s and Families’ Enabler to engage with our ongoing work within, and building up, churches and community working closely with the Priest-in-Charge and ministry team across the Benefice.
Job Title: Children’s and Families’ Enabler
Salary and hours: Matching hours worked. £Early Career Teacher FTE.
Starting around 10 hours per week and building to approximately 20 hours per week in due course, which will be spread over week days and weekends. The actual hours worked to be mutually agreed.
Reporting to: Priest-in-Charge
Overall purpose of post
This post holder will work closely with the Priest-in-Charge and ministry team to plan, formulate and lead worship and community outreach. They will co-ordinate and communicate with the various children’s activities held within the Benefice, and respond to the varying needs of families within the church community and beyond, into the town. They will provide a link between their churches and schools, both primary and secondary. They will especially build the community by strengthening and growing relationships, among our young family contacts.
Context in which this job will be carried out
They would like the holder of this new job role to become an integral part of the Benefice team and they will welcome and encourage new ideas and suggestions about what they can do better.
They will do what they can to “work around” school holidays if the job applicant has family commitments.
Responsibilities
To liaise with the volunteer leaders of the churches’ various children’s groups and activities to encourage, steer, and participate in where needed.
Participate in and help lead All Age Services which take place each month.
Generally help to blend all the various types of children’s groups together into a cohesive, supportive whole with communication at the heart of the structure.
To ensure that all health and safety and safeguarding instructions are followed and that care is taken to ensure safety for self and colleagues, reporting concerns immediately.
