The Role – Chief Marketing & Communications Officer
The R&A is seeking an exceptional leader to provide strategic leadership across the marketing and communications department, driving an integrated approach across corporate communications, media relations, public affairs, brand, marketing, content and digital.
This is a unique opportunity to deepen our engagement with fans, players, partners and stakeholders. You will play a defining role in strengthening our reputation, amplifying our global reach and helping deliver our strategic objective of opening golf to the world.
As a core member of the Executive Team the Chief Marketing & Communications Officer will play a holistic leadership role across The R&A, supporting the organisation in its ambition to ‘Open Golf to the World’.
This is a full-time position working 35 hours per week, with regular presence required at our St Andrews offices.

The ideal candidate will have the following experience and attributes:
Proven senior leadership experience in communications and marketing within a complex global organisation (sport, media, consumer brand preferred).
• Strong track record of managing high-profile brands and major international events.
• Experience leading integrated teams across marketing, digital, communications.
• Demonstrated experience in crisis communications and reputation management.
• Strategic thinker with strong commercial and brand instincts.
• Outstanding communicator with the ability to operate credibly at Board and media level.
• Deep understanding of digital and audience-first marketing.
• Collaborative, influential leader who builds trust and inspires high performance.
• Passion for sport and appreciation of golf’s heritage with a modern, inclusive mindset.
• Strong alignment with The R&A’s purpose to develop golf and make it accessible to all.
