Role Charity Shop Assistant ManagerHours 24 per week working across three days, to include weekendsSalary £16,873 pro rata (FTE £26,000)Location King’s Lynn

What would it mean to help shape a brand-new Charity Shop from the very first day it opens? We’re opening our first Charity Shop, right in the centre of King’s Lynn and we are looking for a brilliant Assistant Manager to help bring it to life.

This is a real chance to help something new, build a team of volunteers who feel valued and supported whilst creating a warm, welcoming space that raises vital funds for carers across our community. If you love retail and the idea of being part of our story from day one, we would love to hear from you.

About the role

Working closely with our Shop Manager, you will help run the day to day of the shop – from serving customers with a smile, to sorting through donations, to making sure the till balances at the end of the day. You will help to support our volunteers, keep the shop looking its best and look for new ways to boost sales and donations along the way.

Day to day you will

  • Support the Shop Manager in running the shop day to day.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and a genuinely positive shopping experience.
  • Help hit sales targets and make the most of every donation.
  • Get stuck into merchandising, stock rotation and eye-catching displays.
  • Supervise and support our volunteer team during shifts.
  • Handle cash, operate the till, and complete end of day procedures.
  • Keep the shop clean, safe and welcoming at all times.
  • Sort, price and display donated goods.
  • Promote Gift Aid and other charity initiatives to customers.
  • Open and close the shop as needed, including on a weekend rota.

What we are looking for

We are not looking for the finished article, we are looking for someone with drive, confidence and people skills to help us build this shop into something truly special.

You will have

  • Retail experience – whether that’s management experience already, or you’re ready to take the step up into your first Assistant Manager role.
  • A track record of hitting targets and driving performance.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Great communication skills and a knack for building relationships.
  • The ability to think ahead while staying hands-on.
  • An understanding of things like health and safety and safe cash handling.
  • Flexibility to work a varying shift pattern, including weekends and bank holidays.

You will be

  • Proactive and entrepreneurial – always on the lookout for ways to grow income and donations.
  • Excited by the idea of helping build something from scratch.
  • A confident decision-maker.
  • Patient, inclusive, and approachable.
  • Comfortable talking to anyone who walks through the door.
  • A warm, professional face for Caring Together Charity in the local community.
  • A hands-on problem solver who isn’t afraid to roll their sleeves up.

It would be a bonus (but isn’t essential) if you’ve worked in charity retail before, led volunteers, know your way around Gift Aid, or have used Epos systems.

As a valued employee, you’ll be entitled to

  • Competitive salary.
  • 25 days annual leave plus Bank holidays.
  • Company pension scheme.
  • Referral scheme.
  • Wellbeing Programme.
  • Paid carers leave.
  • Development opportunities.
  • You will be joining an incredibly dedicated, vibrant and talented team of people, who are deeply passionate about care services which improve people’s lives.
