We’re looking for a motivated Centre Officer to join our Bradford Centre and become a key part of a welcoming, community-focused team. This varied and rewarding role offers the opportunity to support the day-to-day running of the centre while helping to shape activities and services that respond to local needs.

    About the role

    We are looking for a motivated and community‑focused Centre Officer to join our Bradford Centre. This is a varied and rewarding role supporting the day‑to‑day running of the centre while helping to develop activities and services that respond to local need.

    You will play a key part in promoting the centre, supporting local fundraising and income‑generation activities, coordinating volunteers, and ensuring the centre remains a welcoming, safe and well‑organised environment for everyone who uses it.

    Key responsibilities
    • Support the Centre Manager with income generation, including local fundraising, events, bids and online initiatives
    • Promote the centre locally and nationally, including contributing to social media activity
    • Recruit, train and supervise volunteers
    • Identify, develop and coordinate activities, sessions and groups that meet the needs of the local community
    • Build and maintain partnerships with local community organisations
    • Provide a professional first point of contact by responding to enquiries by phone, email and in person
    • Carry out a wide range of administrative tasks, including maintaining accurate records and reports
    • Ensure data is managed in line with GDPR requirements
    • Monitor and record outcomes to help demonstrate the impact and success of services
    • Ensure visitors, clients and contractors are welcomed and that health & safety and security procedures are followed
    • Handle complaints sensitively and escalate where appropriate
    • Work in line with statutory requirements, safeguarding, and SVP policies and procedures
    About you

    You will be highly organised, approachable and passionate about community support. You will be comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment, able to manage competing priorities, and confident communicating with a wide range of people.

    Essential:
    • Experience coordinating activities or projects
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
    • Understanding of safeguarding and health & safety
    • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
    • Ability to work independently, use initiative and work as part of a team
    • Empathy with, and commitment to, the ethos and values of the St Vincent de Paul Society
    Desirable:
    • Experience working in the voluntary or charity sector
    • Experience recruiting, training or supervising volunteers
    • Experience working with vulnerable people
    • Knowledge of partnership working within the voluntary sector
    • Experience in a learning, training or community environment
