Actual salary: £10,189 - £11,081 per annum, based on 14.5 hours per week
Contract: Fixed Term until 31/03/2028
Location: Coventry-based, with travel across the organisation’s area of operation. Hybrid working available.

The Role
To deliver specialist, person-centred energy advice and practical energy support to unpaid carers across Coventry, as part of the Carers Energy Wellbeing Project. The role will help vulnerable carers reduce energy costs, improve home warmth and safety, and access wider support services.
The postholder will provide both in-depth and light-touch energy advice, deliver home visits and community-based sessions, distribute small energy-saving and winter-warmth measures, and support crisis interventions where households are at risk of cold or unsafe living conditions.

ROLE PURPOSE
To deliver specialist, person-centred energy advice and practical energy support to unpaid carers across Coventry, as part of the Carers Energy Wellbeing Project. The role will help vulnerable carers reduce energy costs, improve home warmth and safety, and access wider support services.
The postholder will provide both in-depth and light-touch energy advice, deliver home visits and community-based sessions, distribute small energy-saving and winter-warmth measures, and support crisis interventions where households are at risk of cold or unsafe living conditions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Main Responsibilities
Act as the main point of contact for unpaid carers experiencing difficulties managing energy costs, taking a holistic approach to identifying ways to reduce bills, improve efficiency, and increase household energy security.
Manage a caseload of carers requiring advice and practical support, prioritising those at risk of fuel poverty or living in cold or unsafe homes.
Deliver tailored energy advice covering bills, tariffs, meters, heating systems, energy consumption, switching options, social tariffs, and financial support schemes.
Support carers to access relevant assistance including tariff switching, social tariffs, Warm Home Discount, and other energy-related entitlements.
Provide practical guidance on energy efficiency and behaviour change, helping carers develop tools and strategies to better manage energy use and household costs.
Act as a “Carers Energy Wellbeing Champion” within the organisation, supporting colleagues to identify carers experiencing energy hardship and ensuring appropriate referrals into the service.
Deliver energy-saving workshops, group sessions, and outreach activities across community settings, carer hubs, and online platforms.
Produce accessible information and resources for carers, including leaflets, guidance sheets, and practical tips on reducing energy use and improving warmth.
Distribute small energy-saving measures and winter-warmth items, ensuring support is targeted to those most in need.
Build and maintain effective partnerships with key stakeholders, including local authorities, health partners, and voluntary sector organisations, to strengthen responses to fuel poverty.
• Make referrals to appropriate external services such as energy advice agencies, financial wellbeing support, and local authority schemes.
• Maintain accurate records of all interventions using CRM systems and contribute to monitoring, evaluation, and reporting requirements.
Use feedback, case studies, and evaluation data to continuously improve service delivery and demonstrate impact.
Work in accordance with safeguarding, lone-working, and organisational risk management procedures at all times.
Communication
• Facilitate group activities and discussions, adapting communication methods to meet a range of individual needs within a group setting.
Effectively manage group dynamics.
• Communicate effectively with team members, service leads and external professionals.
• Attend and take part in all relevant meetings appropriate for this role.
• Promote our services amongst professional networks to increase the takeup.
• Participate in personal supervision/appraisal with your line manager and attend training as appropriate.
Laise with PR and Communications colleagues regarding the development of materials and the external promotions of services.
Planning and Organisation
• Ensure work is completed within the agreed timescales.
Prioritise daily work, schedule and manage bookings, manage time effectively, utilise the outlook calendar for meetings and co-ordinate the resources available.
External Representation
Attend and represent the organisation at a range of events and meetings as appropriate and by prior arrangement.
Undertake information and awareness raising sessions for external third parties where required and by prior arrangement.
