CVLife are looking for 2 zero hour Café Host / Food and Beverage Assistant for our Café at the Alan Higgs Centre. You and your colleagues will set the scene to deliver a truly memorable customer experience. We want everyone who visits to be treated as an individual, and for our staff to take immense pride in delivering a warm and welcoming personalised service.

You will work as a small team ensuring our customers experience the ‘wow factor’ every time they visit.

Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Delivering the highest levels of customer service.
  • Having excellent product knowledge and confidence to link sell, up sell and promote additional food and drink items.
  • Preparing and serving food and drinks as required.
  • Operating the till in line with cash handling procedures.
  • Maintaining health, safety and cleanliness standards.

We are looking for someone who has experience in a customer facing role preferably in hospitality, but above all what’s important to us is your eagerness to learn and deliver exceptional customer service.

Coventry Sports Foundation and Culture Coventry are independent organisations who work collaboratively through CV Life, so that the scope of this Job Description as a CV Life document extends to cover the employment contracts held with either Coventry Sports Foundation or Culture Coventry Trust.

To ensure that Café/Bar Services provided by the Foundation meet the demands and requirements of Centre Users, whilst Company Policies are being adhered to and Service Expectations are being met.

  1. To provide a front-line service function in terms of Cofa’s Café/Bar serving Drinks & Snacks.
  2. Prepare, Cook and Serve fresh food for CV Life sites in line with relevant rules and regulations.
  3. Assist in preparing all Catering requests for events across all CV Life sites.
  4. To be involved in cash handling procedures and responsible for Till Balances.
  5. To ensure the Café/Bar/Kitchen/ Store Rooms and associated areas are cleaned and maintained to the standards laid down in Company Procedures, Health and Safety, and Food Hygiene Regulations.
  6. To maintain all storage areas in a clean & tidy condition and ensure Café/Bar is stocked as directed, bearing in mind stock rotation.
  7. To ensure sufficient stock is held in store to service Café/Bar requirements.
  8. To ensure products for sale are displayed in the advised manner.
  9. To complete daily bar and Kitchen diary and file in the advised place.
  10. To complete Monthly Stocktaking.
  11. To be responsible for the Centre’s Vending Operation.
  12. To ensure legal requirements in terms of display and allergies are observed.
  13. To ensure a high standard of customer care is maintained at all times, responding to customer enquires in line with Customer Policies.

To generally help promote the work and public image of the Companies / Trusts, always maintaining high standards of customer service and personal appearance.
  • To attend and fully engage with all internal training and development requirements and opportunities, and maintain such qualifications as required by the demands of the role.
  • To interact positively with customers adopting a friendly and professional approach at all times.
  • To comply with the General Data Protection Regulations when dealing with, maintaining, sharing and storing information.
  • To undertake other duties as specified, which are appropriate to the qualifications, experience and general level of the post.

  • Level 2 Food Hygiene Qualification
  • Level 2 Award in Allergy Awareness

  • Ability to work unsupervised

  • Customer Service Skills

Special Circumstances

  • Ability to work unsociable hours including evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays.
  • Ability to travel between sites.
  • Interest in working with underrepresented and disadvantaged community groups/individuals.
