About this job

The office base for this post will be Exeter (South Team including Somerset), but the role involves travel across the South West Region.

About the role

Local Organisers play a key part in helping our members win improvements at work. This is a hands‑on, people‑focused role, ideal for someone who enjoys being out and about in workplaces, talking directly with workers, and encouraging them to get involved in their union.

You’ll spend much of your time meeting workers one‑to‑one, listening to their concerns, encouraging them to join their trade union, and helping them feel confident to take action together. With support from colleagues in your team you’ll help plan and carry out work focussing on recruiting new members and engaging them in campaigns.

You’ll work with workers to spot natural leaders in the workplace and help them develop the skills and confidence to support their colleagues. Over time, you’ll help build strong workplace representatives who can keep organising, supporting their workmates, and growing the union.

We’re looking for someone who believes in the value of trade unions and shared action. Experience in recruitment, organising or campaigning—either in a trade union or a community organisation—would be an advantage, but just as important is a commitment to our values and to standing up for working people.
